An AR experience that
feels right in real hands,
in real light
A considerate second opinion on your AR experience — covering how it reads, how it feels to use, and where it can be quietly improved without a full rebuild.
← Back to HomeA clear, actionable view of where your AR experience can improve
After the Comfort & Clarity Pass, you'll have a written set of notes covering how your AR experience reads and feels in real-world conditions — daylight, varied angles, ordinary movement. Not a vague impression, but specific observations with suggestions attached.
The notes are written to be acted on at your own pace. Nothing here says you have to change everything at once. Each suggestion stands on its own, so you can work through them in whatever order makes sense for your project.
Readability review
How text, labels, and UI elements hold up in real lighting — indoors, outdoors, in movement.
Interaction comfort notes
Where the interaction flow feels natural and where it asks too much of the person holding the phone.
Prioritised suggestions
Changes ordered by impact and effort — so you know where to start if you have limited time.
Developer-friendly language
Notes written for the people who'll be acting on them — specific, not impressionistic.
You've built something. It works. But it doesn't quite feel right yet.
There's a particular kind of friction that's hard to see when you've been working closely with something for weeks. The interaction makes perfect sense to you. You know where to tap, how to position the phone, what the labels mean. But when someone else picks it up for the first time, they hesitate.
AR adds its own layer of this. The experience that looks clean in a well-lit office can become hard to read outdoors. Something that tracks smoothly on your test device doesn't behave the same on a slightly older phone. Labels that feel fine in the development build start to obscure the object they're pointing to.
These aren't signs that something is fundamentally wrong — they're the normal friction that comes with building for a medium that's still relatively new. Most of it is fixable with targeted attention. The challenge is knowing where to look first.
The Comfort & Clarity Pass is a considered second look — from someone who isn't already familiar with your experience, reviewing it against the conditions your players will actually encounter.
Three areas, reviewed carefully
Readability in real conditions
We look at how your text, labels, and UI elements read across different lighting situations — not just in the controlled conditions of a development environment.
Interaction comfort
Where the flow of the experience asks too much from the user — awkward angles, timing that doesn't match natural movement, steps that require more precision than most phones reliably provide.
Clear, actionable suggestions
Each observation comes with a specific suggestion — written for developers and designers to act on directly, with a rough sense of the effort involved.
Low friction from your side
You share access to your build
A test build of your current AR experience along with a brief description of what it does and who it's for. We don't need documentation or a detailed brief — context helps, but we'll work with what you have.
We review across real conditions
The experience is assessed in varied lighting, on multiple devices where possible, and with the kind of ordinary imprecision that real users bring — not the careful, patient attention of someone who built the thing.
You receive a structured notes document
Observations and suggestions, ordered by priority. Typically delivered within five to seven working days. Follow-up questions are welcome, and if any of the suggestions need clarification, we're glad to talk them through.

AR comfort issues are easy to miss when you know the experience well
Familiarity hides friction
The people closest to an AR experience are the least well-placed to evaluate it as a new user would. The Comfort & Clarity Pass is specifically designed to give you that outside perspective — methodically, not impressionistically.
AR-specific readability is its own discipline
Designing for a screen is different from designing for a camera overlay. Contrast, font weight, label positioning — things that work perfectly in a 2D UI can become genuinely hard to use in AR, particularly in bright outdoor light.
Suggestions are graded by effort
Not every improvement is a significant development task. The notes distinguish between quick wins — often a single line change — and larger structural adjustments, so you can sequence the work sensibly.
Honest about what won't change things much
We won't pad the notes with low-impact suggestions to make the review feel comprehensive. If something is working well, we'll say so. The goal is to help you spend your attention where it actually makes a difference.
Notes that are worth reading
The Comfort & Clarity Pass is a refinement service, and the value is in the quality of the notes. If what you receive feels too vague to act on — if the suggestions don't connect clearly to specific parts of the experience, or if important areas were overlooked — let us know. We'll revisit the review and deliver a supplementary document addressing the gaps.
We want the notes to be something you return to as you work through improvements. That means they need to be specific, clear, and genuinely useful — not just a list of things that could theoretically be better.
There's no obligation to engage further after the review. Many clients use the notes entirely independently. That's not only fine — it's the point.
What to bring to the first conversation
A test build of your AR experience — installable on a current iOS or Android device — and a sentence or two about who it's for and what it does. That's all we need to get started. If there are specific areas you're already concerned about, it's helpful to mention them, but not required.
